Masjid in Goa


Jama Masjid :

Placed in Sanguim Taluka, Jama Masjid is one of the most revered Goan mosques, visited by a large number of Muslims. Erected during the last century, this important mosque is just 25 km away from Margao. In the year 1959, the mosque was renovated. The major highlight of this architectural beauty is that it has a dome-shaped structure with minarets on all four sides. This place every year becomes the venue of all the main Islamic festivals.

Safa Masjid :

The largest mosque in Goa, Safa Masjid, was built in 1560, by the Sultan of Bijapur Ibrahim Adil Shah. This mesmerizing mosque is located in one of small town of Goa, Ponda. The mosque was originally built in a well-maintained garden that had fountains but was later destroyed by the Portuguese. It has a pointed terracotta tiled roof and the prayer hall is constructed on a height. The Islamic walls are arched. But all its beauty was demolished by the Muslims. Id-Ul-Fitr and Id-Ul-Zuha are celebrated with great zeal here.

Churches of Goa

Bom Jesus Basilica

Bom Jesus Basilica is one of the oldest churches of located in Goa. Old Goa used to be this place's capital during  the Portugueses ruling. The beautiful place is considered to be one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture which is a style of building that had begun in the late 16th  century. The interiors of Bom Jesus Basilica are very simplest yet beautiful and the floor is made with marble and precious stone. You  will find  a mausoleum at the top that has the body of St Francis  Xavier in a silver casket. This mausoleum was a designed by Giovanni Battista who was a sculpture of the 17th century. And it took almost ten years to complete the construction of this mausoleum.
Se Cethedral

Se Cathedral  de Santa Catarina which is also known as Se Cathedral  is located in Old Goa.  This churches  is one of the largest in India and is also the most popular  churches in Goa. This Cathedral was built with a purpose. And the purpose was to  celebrate the victory of Afonso, who was a Portuguese ruler after he captured a Goan city in 1510. The day of the victory was also the feat of Saint Catherine and the Cathedral was thus dedicated to her.
This Church had originally two towers, out of which one was destroyed never to built again. Se Cathedral was also gifted a Golden Rose which the Popes of Churches have always blessed and considered  as a token of respect and devotion. This gold ornament is places on the tomb of Francis Xavier.

Temples

Mahadev Temple:

The mahadev temple of Tambdi surla is located  in one of the most serene and peaceful areas you'll ever step foot upon. Surrounded by lush greenery on all sides, it is considered to be the oldest temple in Goa , surviving the Christianising of Goa by the Portuguese.The temple is hidden in a clearing inside a jungle.It is small but magnificently designed and made.The temple has survived countless muslim invasions and a search to eradicate Hinduism by the Portuguese . It is said that a big King Cobra snake resides in the main hall during the night and making it an even mare fascinating place for natural lover.
Brahma Temple:

The Brahma temple in Carambolim is one of the oldest temple in Goa. Attracting many devotees from around the area.The idol that is inside the temple is said to be from the 12th century and is very intricately made.T he temple's name is Brahma Karmali, and is named after the nearby village . During Goa's struggle for freedom, many sessions were held here by Mr. P.P Shirodkar, one of the members of the National Congress. The simplicity  of the area and the temple will surely relax you and history behind it is very fascinating.

Dudhsagar Waterfall

                                        Image result for dudhsagar in goa                                                                                                                                                                                            Dudhsagar Waterfall is one of the highest waterfall in India, and among the hundred highest waterfall in the World. It lies in the Southern part of Goa at Mollem, towards the border with Karnataka state. Dudhsagar, literally means a Sea Of Milk in the local Konkani language and gets its name as it appears like an overflowing sea of milk. It has a total height of 306m and a width of 30m.


The waterfall is at its peak flow during the monsoon months from June to September and wanes out towards the summer from March to June. The entrance to the waterfall is from Collem through the forest department gate. The area is a wild and scenic deciduous forest and an ardent bird watchers paradise. Many species of birds, insects, plants and animals abound here.
The most pleasant weather is to be experienced. In monsoon there is the most scenic when the entire area is lush and green. However during this months the access to the waterfall could be cut off due to flooded rivers and huge quantities of water cascading down the falls.

Arvalem Waterfall

ARVALEM WATERFALL
There are many well known waterfalls and beautiful springs. The waterfall of Arvalem is so beautiful. The waterfall is the place where we forget all our tensions and get peace for our mind. It has lot of greenery all round with dense forestation. It is a beautiful  picnic spot, we can enjoy with our family and friends. Waterfall is situated 2 km from the small town Sanquelim. It is flowing from 50 meter of height, is one of the amazing spot.  There is  Rudreshwar temple and rock cave of pandawas  nearby.  In that temple Mahashivratri  festival is celebrating every year, many people are visiting their to worship a lord Mahadev. The Government of Goa has developed a park  from where the view of the warterfall can be peacefully relished.
The falls are at highest glory during the monsoon season because in the monsoon the pressure of water is high and the fog of is developed in monsoon.
